Horizon is a sky at first light, laid out in stripes. It begins in a soft lilac at the top, drops through a thin band of sky blue into a calm grey-blue, warms into sand and peach, and then opens out into layers of pink — pale, blush and rose — that take up the whole lower half. Some bands are narrow, some broad, so the rhythm feels natural rather than measured, like colour settling on its own.

The rug is hand tufted, and the fine, even pile gives each stripe a slight ribbed texture that catches the light differently depending on where you stand. The joins between colours are clean but not hard, and because every piece is made by hand, no two carry exactly the same tone — a gentle reminder that this was made, not printed.

It is easy to live with. In a girl's room or a nursery, it does the colour work on its own, so walls and bedding can stay plain. In a living room or study, the greys and sands keep it grown-up enough to sit under a sofa or a desk. Turned so the stripes run across the room, it makes a narrow space feel wider.

Looking after your rug

• Some shedding in the first few weeks is normal for a hand tufted rug — vacuum regularly and it settles down
• Trim any loose thread with scissors rather than pulling it
• Blot spills straight away with a clean white cloth; avoid soaking the rug
• Rotate it now and then if furniture sits on it, and keep it out of prolonged damp
• Have it professionally cleaned when needed; harsh chemicals can fade the colours
