Lagoon Hand Tufted Rug

Lagoon looks like a watercolour that was never quite allowed to dry. A wash of dusty rose spreads in from one side, fades through the softest sage and cream in the middle, and warms into a pale ochre at the far edge. There are no hard lines anywhere in it — just colour moving into colour, the way light does across a wall in the late afternoon.

Because it is hand tufted, the pile carries a faint mottling that a machine could never reproduce. Look closely and you will find darker threads of rose sitting beside lighter ones, small pools of mustard within the pink, and a soft shimmer where the fibres catch the light. Every Lagoon comes out a little different, and that is the point.

It is a rug for rooms that want to feel calm. Under a bed, it warms up a pale scheme without shouting. In a living room, it gives a neutral sofa something gentle to sit on. In a nursery, it grows with the child — soft enough for the floor years, grown-up enough to stay.

Looking after your rug

• Some shedding in the first few weeks is normal for a hand tufted rug — vacuum regularly and it settles down
• Trim any loose thread with scissors rather than pulling it
• Blot spills straight away with a clean white cloth; avoid soaking the rug
• Rotate it now and then if furniture sits on it, and keep it out of prolonged damp
• Have it professionally cleaned when needed; harsh chemicals can fade the colours
